I am thinking about buying this game also but I am not sure if I will enjoy the experience of it.

What other shooter would you say red orchestra is similiar to ; Is it kind of like ,cod 2 , cod 4, a battlefield game, homefront, arma ?

whats it like, I just want to know if this game would be a good fit for me or not

non of them it really is very different from any other game, in some ways it reminded me of COD2 but i think that is just because it is in WW2. It is a tactical game but i run and gun and i do well also, there is a lot of team work involved to get an objective done, not like in COD where you stick a bomb down and that's it. I would pre order the digital deluxe version and see if you like the beta, or buy RO1 but that may not be the best thing to do as RO2 could be very different. :)

I really can't wait for the game to come out :)

Definite buy for me, the price is right, the developer is right. Even if the game isn't too fun I'm sure there will be a few mods that are good, and not to mention the awesome TF2 hats :D

Out of those games you mentioned, I would say Arma. If your not sure wait and see after the release. See how many people are playing the game. Steam shows you those numbers. That will let you know how popular it is with the majority of people.

IMO its nothing like ArmA, don't have to hit 35 buttons to get into a tank :P

The games that come the closest are probably realism based mods for cod, battlefield or even source. Think of project reality, insurgency, resistance and liberation. But then with a team that works full work weeks on said project.

However even then RO is a game of its own. The key of Red Orchestra has always been the weapons handling, and that cannot really be compared to other games (and is generally a hate or love affaire).

In terms of map sizes I guess you could say its somewhat close to Cod:UO. Movement and control is much more like Cod's and BF's than say ArmA.

With controls etc closer to cod's and battlefields. Levels sizes somewhere between cod and battlefield. And general realism closer to arma. But

Sucks that EU gets the blank deal again, though.

Remember that US prices on steam are excluding taxes, while the European price is including the tax. The digital deluxe edition is 44,99 Euro and 49,99 dollars. This seems like a rip off as 44,99 euro's is equal to 64 dollars.

However take the american price of 49,99 dollars which is roughly 35 euro. then add 20% vat on top of that and you get a price of 42 euro. So in the end the Europeans are getting shafted for roughly 3 Euros, which is probably due to TWI picking a nice looking price in the vicinity of the US to EU transformation.

I'll wait until the free weekend to be honest. Game-play wise I haven't really seen anything that excites me. I don't think not releasing some direct capture HD footage of MP battles helps either.

TWI said to ramp up the marketing stuff in august. While It seems that it hasn't started yet that should give you more footage probably. But waiting for the first player reviews and free weekends is never a bad thing to do for any game :).

I don't know what to expect. I'm a COD and BF gamer. But I pre ordered to see if I like the Beta. I have been waiting for this for a while, and I'm excited to try something new.
