Ok, HF was really refreshing as it played like a tactical shooter.

The high damage from the guns worked like hardcore CoD4, but with a hud etc. You had to think about cover and move tactically.

Sure the CoD "rambos" hated it as running around killing everyone wasn't practical. Lots of us though loved this change of style.

Now bring in patch 1.3 and we are back to CoD style run and gun gameplay.

The game is on Steam, so you can't really stay with the old version (or install it). There are no bots, so I can't play offline. The single player was great, but I've done that now.


Is this the first major casualty* of huge patch changes that turns a niche tactical shooter into a poor CoD clone with no come back.

it is no longer the game I bought and I've not had it for a month.

* I know BC2 got really messed around, but the core game stayed the same

The first game for a long while that was tactical from the outset.

Where people couldn't take hits, jump, spin and headshot you. It was awesome

It's not completely dead, if that makes sense. I'm not impressed.

I haven't really played it since the patch for the reasons stated in the OP.

However, server files and rcon tool are being released today (or so im told), so hopefully mod tools will follow. Would like to tweak it back to the way it was.

i got 6 of us onto the Bash and Slash Crosshairs Server for a bit of action last night, it was smooth and we got the vehicles turned off.

To be honest I felt the game was lacking something but couldn't work it out, i didn't want to compare.

I am uncertain if the majority will be playing it in months to come, it feels like a game with lots of bits bundled together.

Not sure if arma 2 is really a game
