Post Iron Europe
Hello from the Iron Europe dev team. We are excited to allow players to experience the First World War from the perspective of the solders on the ground. We have prepared an outline of the mod to show the current scope of the mod.

Iron Europe Outline

Intro
A WW1 mod for Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad focusing the early engagements from the 'Race to the Sea' in 1914 to the first day of the Battle of the Somme in 1916.

Classes (All classes are limited in number unless otherwise specified)
Rifleman (Not limited)
• Load out to include 1 to 2 grenades, and either the Lee-Enfield (British) or Mauser 98 (German) rifle
Marksman
• Will be equipped with a scoped Lee-Enfield or Mauser 98 rifle
Bomber
• Load out will include a bag of 10 grenades and either a pistol or trench club
Machine Gun Crew Member
• The only class that can supply machine gunners
• Load out to include a Lee-Enfield or Mauser 98 rifle and extra ammunition boxes for the machine gun
Machine Gunner
• Armed with a pistol
• Capable of using the heavy machine guns
Lewis Gunner (British Only)
• Armed with the Lewis light machine gun and a pistol
Lieutenant
• Armed with a pistol and Lee-Enfield or Mauser 98 rifle
• Increases the capture rate of objectives
• British lieutenants will have a whistle available to use

The Team
A dedicated group of about seven members who are striving to bring the most fun and realistic WW1 mod ever conceived. We are also always looking for more members who want to apply their individual talents into this endeavor.

Why mod for Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad?
For many of the team members, myself included, have found that the original Red Orchestra had the perfect mix of fun, realism, and playability. Seeing the features and improvements being made in the sequel, Heroes of Stalingrad will have everything we want in Iron Europe. Except of course for the time period specific set pieces and entities needed for a WW1 setting.

Mine Warfare
Is currently not planned. It is out of the scope of what we are trying to accomplish. In reality the shafts needed to do such a thing would be sunk at the second or third trench line in secret by special tunneling companies. The common foot soldier would have no use for them or even know they were being laid until they went off.

Tanks
Is also not currently planned for two primary reasons. First historically tanks did not make their debut until later in 1916 at the latter end of the Battle of the Somme which is beyond the current scope of the timeline the mod will be covering. Secondly we simply do not have the man power to accomplish such an undertaking at this time. If these two problem are rectified in the future it is entirely possible to expect to see some armor rolling across no man's land to strike fear in the enemy!

I am a WWI buff and I think WWI has never been done justice in games so I am really looking forward to this mod.

Shame about no mine warfare. :(( Imagine Ace of Spades but with the quality of ROHOS for maximum silliness.

Or the Messines or Lochnagar explosions, recreating them would be epic and quite terrible at the same time.

Hope you also use some popular WWI songs like Sgt McKenzie, Green Fields of France, And The Band Played Walting Matilda, etc or even era-songs. Something to drive home the hellish horror that WWI was.

Don't know how it is in Europe, but in the US, WWI is pretty much the forgotten war, which is a damn shame. WWII gets all the attention here, probably due to the Spielberg/Hanks movies and series. WWI shaped the world even more than II in my opinion. I love anything to do with it. This mod should be right up my alley! Bolt. Rifle. Sweetness.

As my Greatuncle who fought at WWI at La Lys would say all his life, there was never a WWII, just a long pause in WWI.
