Mod Tools beta out on Steam
The black ops mod tools beta is on Steam via the Tools section of your library. I've installed them and looked for Radiant, but no go. It seems they "decided" against a mapping tool. The rest of the tools seem pretty restrictive at first glance and with the rumour that only 32 of the whitelisted dvars can be used in any given mod it seems like these tools are VERY limited in what can be done with them. But of course that's just a rumour that, as far as I know, hasn't been confirmed or disproven. A bit more insight would be appreciated.
So far it seems that the tools consist of an effects editor, an asset manager, an asset viewer and a converter.
If any of the modders on this forum could look them over and report back on this thread it would be great. So far it doesn't seem like much can be done but I could be entirely wrong as I've never gotten into modding for CoD and so I never learned my way around the tool set.

I don't expect any mods that are complex enough to really get me back into it. These tools just sound too limiting.

even without the tools people could already make mods that come 90% close to promod. so who cares?

Re: Mod Tools beta out on Steam
Mods alone won't cut it. A big problem is the number of admins who think nobody can possibly be better than they are. I was just in a CMmod server playing SnD. After a few rounds admin accused me of hacking and before I could say anything in my defense I'm kicked and banned. Ridiculous considering I was just playing intelligently.

cant do nothing against those kind of people. but you wont have to bother about that if you play the mod as it was meant to be played, in ladder wars with ACs on

Problem for me is getting a team together willing to set aside time for matches, scrims, practices and demo studies. If I could find 4 other players willing to grind their nose to the stone to be the best I'd love to give this game a shot at least in TWL.
