Nice news! But any news on modtools or server files? With maps so small and a very limited amount of players per match, I fear that without a constant influx of new maps this game may become very boring very fast, that is my biggest fear on this game.

Day 1 Launch Event Details

The skinny: Brink TV's Day 1 Launch Event goes live at 8pm EDT on May 10! Simply point your browser to http://thebrink.tv to join in on the action. The homepage will display our stream front and center whenever we're live. Don't have the game yet? GreasedScotsman will be giving away a PC-Steam (digital download) version of the game during the event!

The details:

Okay, I've got a lot to cover so grab some popcorn... long post inbound. Brink TV staff has been planning to launch the website on the game's release day for quite some time, but as of a few weeks ago, we didn't really have an "event" attached to our launch. I decided to embark on a labor of love and started reaching out to Splash Damage, various people in the community and tapping my fellow staff members for a hand at putting something special together for the community the very instant the game was released.

Here are the details of what Brink TV has in store for our Day 1 Launch Event:

On May 10, as soon as I get my hands on the game (Steam preloads supposedly unlock sometime between 12am and 1am EDT by the way! http://store.steampowered.com/app/22350/), Brink TV will go live. I will be testing out features and broadcasting my gameplay throughout the day, likely joined by Brink TV staff so we can co-op our way through the campaign, just having fun and learning the game.

At 8pm EDT on May 10, the true launch event will begin. We'll be opening with a podcast aimed at introducing the Brink TV staff to the community.

This will be followed by a roundtable discussion between the Brink TV staff and some notable guests from previous Splash Damage titles. The topics will be centered on competitive features in Brink--discussing what we know is in, what we think will survive a "Pro Mod" cut, and a wishlist of competitive needs that I'll be forwarding to Splash Damage after the event.

The Guest List

Brink TV Staff,
TreeFrog,
VtmN,
infern0,
bj0rn

To cap off the evening, we'll turn our crosshairs to Brink and run some exhibition matches that are open to anyone in the community. Since the game will have only been out for a few hours and we didn't want to rush people into forming teams, these will be First-come, First-serve Team vs Team King of the Hill matches broadcast live on Brink TV.

While we're getting servers and players situated for these matches, I'll be giving away a PC-Steam (digital download) version of the game. Yup, I bought two copies of Brink: one for me and one for a lucky person who doesn't yet own a copy of the kool aid.

Those are the plans for our Day 1 Launch Event. I hope you come out and enjoy the mayhem with us.

But Greased, what about teams and real competition?

You're covered. It didn't make sense to try to host a true Team vs Team tournament on the day of launch. Europeans won't even have the game by the 10th and I'm sure people will still be settling into the game for a number of days. Therefore, I've tapped several people in the community along with my fellow Brink TV staff to host an event about a week after our Day 1 Launch Event. More details will come out soon, but here's the skinny of that event:

On May 18, Brink TV will host a Team vs Team Tournament with hardware prizes sponsored by Raptor Gaming (dkt's outfit, for those that aren't familiar with the brand but are in the Quake scene). Follow Raptor Gaming on Twitter to show some love.

We've planned prize packages for team sizes of 5 or 6 players, since that seems to be the rough consensus. This will be a proper Best of Three, Single Elim tournament using whatever competition rules seem to be favored by the community at that point.

More details on that event will follow shortly.

Please come out and tune in!
