Post Re: Mouses
Anyone ever used the MS Sidewinder? I'm thinking to buy one, but I have a question. Does anyone know if the scroll wheel
has side to side switches like the Logitech G5 has. I have my reload and grenade toss on these and don't want to retrain myself. I'm too darned old (71) for retraining reflexes.

I stick to the Razer Deathadder, because of the ergonomic shape and the infared sensor. For me it is the best mouse i've ever had, it has no skipping, jumping etc. like i had with my previous mouses with laser technology. I had a Razer Copperhead, G5 and a Razer Lachesis and they sucked totally. As i tested the Deathadder and get more into the technically thing of the mouse
i would recommend you to buy a mouse with optical or infared sensor like the Deathadder, Microsoft Intelli Mouse 3.0 or 1.1 and maybe a Ikari Optical or stick to the old MX510 which i also had or MX518. If you USBHack this mice to 500hz or 1000hz they are even better than the 4000 dpi mouses, because dpi is only a marketing thing, no one needs over 800 dpi. I've tested it in Counterstrike and CoD games.

For example most pros are using the Old MS Intelli Mouses with 400-450 dpi and though there are 3200-4000 dpi mouses out there most of the pros dont use them. On a survey chart of ESL Pro Series Player the MS mice dominated the other mice. 1-2 of them used the G5, which maybe the only good mouse with laser technology bu

So you shouldnt do what all the pros do but its a good way to orientate.

Im also still content with my death adder because it fits well in my hands even though ergonomically logitech is a little better.
For about half the prize of a blue g5 its really ok.

I have it at 500mhz and the full DPI, not with the driver (its useless unless you want your mouse not to glow) but with usb tweaking tools.
In the game I never had any problems, no skipping no oversteering understeering and what there might be.

You really become good when your mouse always behaves the same, your fps is steady and you keep one sensitivity ingame and in windows.
The shots when you turn arround out of reflex and shoot somebody really fast become more often.

I did not see any one talk about it and I love this mouse so much. Sorry if this is a dubble post.

The Razer Mamba gaming grade wireless mouse wow that sounds sexy.

Hard core gamers do not use wireless mice, if you go to a tournament or LAN you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone using a wireless mouse for serious FPS gaming. This is due to various advantages that wired mice have traditionally held over their wireless counterparts, such as faster response times and obviously no risk of interference from other devices.

The central body of the mouse is formed from a soft touch plastic with a lovely rubbery feel and the sides are constructed from plastic with grips located near the base. In addition to the traditional 2 buttons and scroll wheel, the mouse has a DPI switch which can be located in the upper corner of the left click button and two extra buttons on the left hand side which can be operated with the thumb. Also on this side, located at the bottom left corner are LED indicators displaying battery life and DPI settings. On the underside of the mouse you’ll find the battery compartment, on/off switch, cable release slider and connect button.

$60 for a mouse is a bit extreme but it is SO worth it

Post Re: Mouses
I've had the Mamba for a year now and have nothing but good things to say about it. Wireless/wired; works just as well.

For me, a couple of "everyday details" is what really made it "my" mouse. Yeah, it's a cracking gaming mouse, smooth, fast and accurate, when battery is drained (12-14 hrs - a bit less now a year later) it's a matter of seconds to get it wired up. It's got a docking station I've placed out of the way and leaves me more room on my desk. When wireless I can place the mouse anywhere without worrying about knocking or pulling things off the desk. I work from home from time to time so it gets used for "normal" pc work too. ;) I'm a "shortcut man" when it comes of Office apps. and find it inconvenient to have to use a mouse. When I am writing something or working in excel, I place it out of the way but within reach. It's just so damned convenient. It is the most expensive mouse I have ever bought and I got more than a few long stares from my wife when I tried to explain "the benefits" but now she loves it too. For her it's the look and feel and ease of use.

In short - highly recomended.

/edit - If I have to give it any negative comments, then it is the lack of profiles. Only 5. For me that's COD4, COD5, BFBC2, COD:BO and "office". As you can tell, MoH have been relegated some time ago. :D

Post Re: Mouses
Now this might come of a bit of a surprise and many of you might think that it is cheating but I grew up with my left hand dominating my right, so I do everything mainly with my left hand.... SO as gaming mice can be limited to manufacturers making "straight" mice then they are the only ones I can use, so I used a Microsoft Optical mouse for man years with all those multiple buttons and after going to the i-series and testing the mice on offer, I changed to a razer lachesis and learnt to adapt to it as it had the buttons that I wanted on the right hand side of the mouse. To be honest I forget about one of the buttons but I do have a very odd play style.

NOW comes the toy that sorts out my movement hand, as my hand used to lie on the cursor keys, I struggled to gain extra keys and it was getting very lame so I purchased a Fang and run it as a straight forward keyboard.

This is not me, but gives you an idea of how I play, the Fang has a two buttons on my right thumb and gives great access to the keys that right handed people would find naturaly on a standard keyboard.

Image

Now comes my config keys.....

QWE & ASD are normal to most of you, they are the same for me. Use is F and R is reload, no problems there.

G is Lethals/grenade and T is the spare flash or special grenade, on the other side of the keyboard is L which I use sometimes for Talk instead of T, sometimes you see me at a spawn throwing nades and this is why.

Enter and Space keys (my thumb) are normally Prone and Jump, nice an easy to get to.

Duck key is normally squeeze the mouse (right button on mouse) and either the right mouse button is normally AIM down the sights.

The V and B keys are by my little finger which is breath/stab and run

Mouse wheel normally holds PTT but I stopped using PTT as much as possible and put it on voice activated, what a saving that is.

CRAZY hey
