 Triple Digits
Well today i spend disemboweling my computer. You see when i jumped on steam all my ping was in the triple digits; i live in central California and my ping to a San Jose server was 168, so then I started up cod4 which I don't have on Steam and i got the same thing. Natural restarted my computer, but when that didn't work i know something had gone wrong. I tried every thing from turning of my AV to unplugging and replugging my rig and my router and nothing has lowered my ping or lagging ass. I have come to the conclusion that it is something wrong with something outside of my limits like my internet provider, but I would love it if you guys and gals know anything about random lag that comes about gamers. I know its a weird question to ask, but I'm desperate.

 Re: Triple Digits
My first ping test came up as 108ms with an 8ms jitter, but my packet loss was 96%!
Then I tried it again and the packet loss was 0%, but my ping is 115ms.

 Re: Triple Digits
barebones here is the latest on my tests speed Ping There was an update for Civ V that I downloaded, but I don't think that it is causing the high ping. ill remove it and try again just in case. Edit* Removing Civ V did nothing

 Re: Triple Digits
By any chance are you using TrendMicro or kaspersky as your firewall/antivirus?

 Re: Triple Digits
Have you called your ISP and had them do a trace on your line? They can learn a lot about your connection in no time. The problem could be on their end.

 Re: Triple Digits
I think that's what the problem was. It just came back to its normal ping. PandaBear wrote: well idk what happened but its back to normal.
