TBH you need a after market cooler, the first thing i do when looking for a new CPU is look for one. The standard fan just is not good enough to keep it nice and cool when playing games for a long periods of time. You can get them for around £20 i think and they make it much cooler. Just make sure you get the right type for your board/CPU these 2 sites are good for the uk http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productli ... 1&catid=57 http://www.scan.co.uk/Ill post up some when i get to my PC, i have a H50 which is a water cooler and its very cool but it was about £50 (and a bitch to fit).

Yeah. 90 celsius idle is dangerous. I don't even want to know what it is at load. You need to have that CPU fan replaced ASAP. It may have already caused damage to your CPU and significantly reduced the life of it.
What are the full specs of your computer. Make sure to include the model of the computer case so we can recommend CPU coolers that will fit inside it.

Re: How to turn cpu fan up help pls
Most ASUS motherboard Bios' allow you to set the CPU fan setting from the Bios. I keep mine at 100% at all times. You should go there and check it. This is what it looks like for your board: This can also be adjusted from the desktop with most ASUS boards with the AI software. I do it in Bios. These aren't always always set to 100% from the factory. You are experiencing very high temps. In the short term, also check to ensure that your CPU heatsink is seated properly onto your CPU. Get a flashlight and stick your head in there and take a look. You need flush and properly insulated contact between the bottom of your heatsink and your CPU. If it is not, then re-seat it, using some high quality thermal paste. Regardless, make sure you get a good CPU cooler/heatsink.

I think you can only set the speed of the fan manually if the fan support PWM (pulse-width modulation). Most fans made within the past few years do have that, so there shouldn't be a problem. I wonder how high you can set your fans, though. Maybe the motherboard is being told that increasing the RPM might damage the fan and cause it to malfunction.

You do that to get a 'true' fan speed adjustment outside of bios. I included the screens to show where. It will not damage the fan itself to have it running at 100% in Bios because you then set the fan to the speed you want with its own control. Recap: Set Fan speeds in bios to 100% and then on your fan or through whatever software came with it, set it to say 80% = your fan is running at 80% speed or whatever rpm that is for that fan and setting. There is also another option (which I dont use). On my ASUS board, you can sert the CPU fan speed in bios to increase at different temperature intervals which I believe I can set. If I remember correctly, I believe ASUS boards come set like this stock. Actually though, this thing about the bios fan adjustment is really just a minor point - something to check. His temps are so high there is something major wrong.
