Flash your scripts/binds are really nice.Your config is quiet good i think but there is one thing i cant understand :

I mean lol?!? i got about -30 fps if i use this... i dont know if its just a bug with my gpu or something but maybe you should test seta r_preloadShaders "0" i guess you get a big fps boost.

Thx m8 - there might be a few odd settings as this file gets the brunt of any testing, Maybe I should of posted my autoexec. ( main settings once tested)? I will have a look at it lol.

No change in FPS with this on or off for me but I have enough Vram to preload shaders. What I do notice is my game loading faster with picmip at 0 with this on ( which it is meant to do - it has nothing to do with fps unless you can't hold the texture buffer size). The config is for an ATI x1000 series cards btw so im not sure if yours is playing up or you have a different vendor? Your drivers might be playing up also if you have a 512mb card?

Thanks FLASH!

Just for simplicity I cataloged all the changes relative to yitch3.cfg. I quickly checked it out and got near enough the same fps as the yitch3: after normalizing for same fov and screen size and accounting for picmip variations.

Some of the new commands you have used might have effective on older GPU's...unfortunately things like lodCurve don't do much for me.

BTW...your pitch settings nearly gave me vertigo again. lol.
Also...your snaps were a bit too low for me - if your connection can handle it, consider bumping this up to 30 to get better reg.

Some commands were new to me, like the cull commands.

I'm going to look into the preload shaders issue again...I found setting it to 1 gave me a one time boost...when coming into the game...but I didnt see a -30 fps. wow. I'll have to check this out.

also....are you using any r_ati commands?

as for the bobWeaponAmplititude....i never bothered checking into this, for some reason i had assumed it was cheat protected...what is the effect you are going for?

@ Jock: I did wonder when I posted this lol - yeah sure m8 np 8-) I didn't really expect this config to be my shining example of my final product lol. but it will do for now.... It was purely what I had in my config_mp.cfg at the moment.

I think the weapon bob stuff is just clutter I was trying out tbh..

r_ati_ all in good time my friend - not exactly r_ati_ but similar ;)

oh the reason for the motion sickness ( which makes me giggle btw lol ) is probably due to DPI differences. My mouse is only 400dpi and yours is probably a lot more?

Will try the net tweaks as I do have a good connection. - thanks m8 ( not really got round to that stuff yet ).

Cool m8 glad it has worked for you.

As Jock has mentioned it would be nice to see what system setup you have to see if there is a link. I also only gain a few fps over the yitch3.cfg but Im convinced this is to do with the fact we use different types of cards ( ATI vs Nvidia ) more than config differences alone ( maybe?). For instance I don't use any of the r_nv_ent codes but I do use some of the older openGL API commands which I know effect some directX D3D settings with ATI's. Since the cod engine was built from the old q3 one ( ok I know it has been massively re-writen and can be considered new) the fact still remains cod4 accepts them. How much they effect the processing of the game code I am unsure of yet? Hence the ongoing testing..!!

One thing I will say though is we have to remember ATI and Nvidia process vertex and pixel pipelines in a different ways, I am currently in the process of trying to make the most of how ATI uses the directX D3D language ( im OGL not D3D lol). We also have to remember that directX D3D is slower in general than the OpenGL sub system and that both systems do share some common functions - they have to hence my reasoning to use some OGL.

why do we use D3D then?

Its only because of MS's heavy weight approach to gaming funding that D3D is used at all these days. I do hate them why move away from GL???? Its easier to program with and faster.....!!!!:twisted: :twisted: :twisted:
