How do you win knife fights? I find lots of people run at me with knife and I hardly ever manage to knife them before they get me, despite me having a far better ping than most of them.
1) Does the 'slash' animation stop a player who has run and 'lunged' at you with the knife?
2) Is it better to turn off the autoaim on the 'lunge' animation for knife? (i swear sometimes autoaim makes me miss a knife)

Any help is appreciated. If anyone has had the chance to check out the game code on knifing or can provide links to detailed information on it, that would be helpful. Atm getting run and knifed is my white whale as there doesnt seem to be anything i can do to stop it.

come on guys somebody must know how the game works out who wins in a knife fight i.e. whether slashing at close range (which is quicker) will stop someone who has already started a knife stab from longer range???

Well I don't know the best way but i messed around with a knife only server and it seems that if you slash farther back than you think you need to you score..Just try it and you will find your range.. I hat eot say it but knife only seems pretty lame to me...

I love knife, sometimes I dedicate an entire class to it and only knife, I refuse to shoot at all (and still get a positive KILL/DEATH). you sprint and lie down against the wall just around corners or in long grass to regen your stamina and sprint again. you have to be great at dodging (which is perfect cos I can dodge but not aim) in order to get to your opponent and there is nothing as awesome and insulting as sprinting across the entire map in crossfire and knifing the poor idiot who has been trying to shoot you the whole way... I find that /bind mouse1 "+melee" gives you an incredible edge as you can knife instantly... if someone tries to knife you backstep and strafe LEFT and they almost always miss. also if you switch to a lighter weapon you can knife again sooner in case you miss. Hope it helps
