Comparing BFBC2 BETA PC to previous COD PC titles
To me , it's inferior , no console , fixed fov , akward controls
The final won't get a console , this means , fov stays 65 also. Workarounds!
And the textures look like they've made up in a photoshop with default samples (maxed out)
When you look far into the distance with a sniper you see the texture > model blending , so they aren't regarded as true solid ground just a picture of a texture applied on , as you see the human model like it's being popping up from the ground (or the down half of his body is underwater ... undertexture in this case)
I don't know how to call this but it has weird texture dynamics looks a bit too simple. RPG explosions are joke, what explosions rly.
Remember this is still an EA game , dice or not. And many PC betas aren't that different from the final product cause devs are unable to rebalance the parameters and just make the game more smooth , what will DICE do , will see , hope for the best.
The point is easy, a lot of people wants to make super multimillion games these days , and they don't have idea , only a handful of them actually know how to make a true PC game.
Just cause you are a programmer doesn't mean you know how to make a game , from directing , designing , and managing the whole process, it needs years of experience and a talent , many people expected BFBC2 to be ultimate COD killer , i just waited till beta and im not surprised.

1st off, they have announced many times that the final version will have an FOV slider. So there goes 1/3rd of your argument.
2nd, you went off on how the textures are bland or something, just curious what resolution/settings and version of DirectX your running. 'Cause the game looks bloody gorgeous for me on DX10, and everything maxed out. Again, they have also stated multiple times that to reduce the download size of the BETA, they did not include high-res textures. So you can't judge these things until you have the full version.
Their major update to the Beta client is coming tomorrow and we'll most likely see performance optimizations and other additions. We'll get a better view on how DICE is handling our feedback and a closer look at the final retail build. But until that happens, I don't think it's right to compare it to games that have been released and patched multiple times over the years.

Re: Comparing BFBC2 BETA PC to previous COD PC titles
I assume you:
A) Have an older computer B) Have not read a single thing DICE has posted C) Made up your mind about Battlefield: Bad Company 2 long before you tried it D) Never played a Battlefield game before E) Are spouting noise that you know nothing about
A) This game looks brilliant on my computer. B) Dice have said numerous times there will be an FOV slider in the Retail game (maybe not instantly but in a extremely early patch) C) Battlefield carries on the extremely good tradition of multiplayer that DICE is known for D) Battlefield has never ever (ever ever) had a console, just because other games have one does not mean all. (Do some homework) E) You clearly have not read a single thing or paid attention at all.

@OP quit the ignorant whining and stick to CoD.

Re: Comparing BFBC2 BETA PC to previous COD PC titles
I wasn't going to say anything, but I just have to. Comparing BFBC2 to previous COD titles on PC is exactly like comparing apples and oranges. They both may be FPS games, or fruit in the case of the apples and oranges, but they are both 2 different flavours. I've said before on these forums the only fair comparison you can make is between BFBC1 and BFBC2. Compare how much better they did using the Frostbite engine on BFBC2 compared to BFBC1.
I'm a CoD player too, and I also feel cheated out of a great gaming experience. But we can't keep holding on like desperate ex boyfriends that just don't want to let go. IW made their choice, they chose the big money with the XBOX crowd. Time to move on. I'm still holding out hopes for Treyarch's next CoD title. But until then it's BFBC2 for me.

(Do some homework) You probably shouldn't attack people like that if you're just going to be wrong. Seriously. Now I have to wonder if you've ever played a Battlefield game on PC, or if you're just ranting about how sweet Bad Company was on your Xbox.

Re: Comparing BFBC2 BETA PC to previous COD PC titles
Then of course Frostbite games have never had a command console. THEY'VE ONLY BEEN ON CONSOLES! You're kind of making a point, here. I like BFBC2. I do. But the fact that it leaves GPUs nearly idle and relies so heavily on the CPU just screams "PORT." The Cell and Xenon processors are way more powerful compared to the RSX and Xenos GPUs. So the engine was designed to run in an environment where the CPU is the workhorse of the system. Engines designed for the PC are made with powerful GPUs in mind, so they don't run like emulators.
Just look at the last major game that ignored GPUs in favor of CPUs: GTA IV.
