Re: Mod tools beta release May 31st
im still trying to find the answer to my question... who owns radiant? or the radiant files? treyarch/IW (i suppose u could say Acti) or Vincent/Jason west? The Engine developers?
is their a threat to the case? is their a threat also to MW2?
Let alone FTP access to gameservers.com

Re: Mod tools beta release May 31st
Couldnt of scripted this better, Treyarch are a joke. bored of waiting for the next tweet of fail..
not much info on who owns the Cod version of radiant, I would think it was open software tho, Wiki only says:
GtkRadiant is a level design program developed by id Software and Loki Software. GtkRadiant is free software distributed under GNU General Public License. Call of Duty 4 uses a modified version of GtkRadiant as a community map editor in combination with a series of other tools available in their editing kits:
If there is an ownership claim then it might be in the WaWmod tools readme , I dont have a copy on my pc, perhaps someone with them could check?? .

This is good news for the COD community. Obviously ACTIV/TREY do care and want to support the pc community somewhat, because they are not making a dime releasing mod tools.

Without Radiant, this is all pretty meaningless.

Create new maps, new "versions" of the game, basically do what they want with it. Google COD4 mods unless you are already familiar with them. The list of mods is loooong. As has been said before, list of users rather short.

/edit/
LOL sorry, I misunderstood your question. No, you are right, they can't. Not a modder myself but understand that there are serious limitations to what they can do. There's not cvar whitelist, no detailed limitations of what they can do with what IS there and it has to run on Steam as far as I understand. Not clear if it can run on unranked or if it is client-side only. It is the Radient tools that are missing and nobody really understands why and Trey are not really giving a clear answer either.
