I for one and completely ecstatic that dice has taken this first step in fully upgrading their specs. Sure, I will need to upgrade to 7 and get a new card, but I think dice showed a lot of courage for being the first one to do this with a major title. I also want to get the community's opinion on something. Since BF3 is going to be considered one of the first, if not the first DX10 + 11 only game, will this start a wave of cycling out XP and DX9 with other games? If so, will the PC community be weeded from the "noobs" and do you think this is a good or bad thing?

I believe the DX9/XP out issue has been discussed on here, not sure though.


anyway, I think eventually the PC market will drop DX9 production just like it stopped developing for DX8 and before as well as Win2000 and before, etc.

As far as "noobs" go, there will always be people who are new to the world of gaming and PC gaming and I think the veterans need to be more accepting and take them under their wings. We seem to think we're better than anybody who's never clicked a headshot before and I think that brings down our community a bit. If we encourange poeple to just go for it and have a good time and not worry about K/D they will have fun, and in having fun, eventually get better individually. When they are no longer "noobs" there will be more behind them and we will grow. That's just how it works. If we treat the new players better and teach them, we will be looked upon as a much better group of people to develop for and maybe we'll see some extra effort come to us haha. I'm dreaming of course, but you can't blame a guy for dreaming

BF3 is not the first game to drop DX9/XP support, Just Cause 2 did it and a few others, but BF3 is easily the biggest title to do it.

As far as berating noobs, sure it happens on PC, but its NOTHING like the xbox community, at least not every PC gamer is 12, teabags every kill, and has racist/homophobic tendencies.
