EA to annualise the Battlefield series?
There is already a thread about this here, but the title of the thread is misleading. Quote: Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey thinks EA may annualise the Battlefield franchise.
"We suspect they could release a Battlefield franchise game annually, switching between Battlefield and Bad Company versions, similar to how Activision manages their Call of Duty franchise," he said in a research note. Source: CVG

I understand what you are saying about leaving Dice to do BF and BC, and put respawn on MOH.
But I think it would be nice to have different companies doing BF and BC, if they would go to semi-annual releases. I don't know what kind of job respawn could do, but at least it would feel like a different game every year. Don't want to get into the COD scenario of feeling like the same game every year. That's all my point was Neil.

That's all my point was Neil. I prefer the diversity between franchises more than between titles. If Respawn were to do a BF title then it would be more aimed at "individual" styled game compared to what the Battlefield franchise is about and that is a team based ethic. Now Vince and co are known for working on titles that are not necessarily around team work based ethic. This is public play I am talking about and not private matches. By having them work on a Battlefield title you would change the ethic of the franchise (in my opinion). I play Battlefield because it is different from games like CoD and I want it to stay that way. That is why I suggested they - Respawn be put on MoH. They know about the franchise and can probably produce something that will satisfy the "selfish" player. Plus we see the difference in quality between two studios when this type of scenario happens. With CoD, you can clearly see that IW is (maybe was now) the better studio at producing CoD titles. Treyarch have given it a good go but WaW was no where near as good as CoD4 and BO was never as good as MW2 (so I hear), which to be honest is/was a big ask. Now you have more studios to the mix for the franchise probably going to produce the same old stuff to milk it dry. That is another reason I wouldn't like to see another studio work on Battlefield.

You don't need to make another thread about this. Just send a Private Message to Kucd and have him change the title.

@Neil I see what you are saying. I do not want a BF gaming turning into COD. I love the team/squad play in BF and that's what keeps me coming back. I just hope that if they do semi-annual releases, they do find ways to make the games a little different, that's all.

Re: EA to annualise the Battlefield series?
Man I hate the idea of serializing game franchises every year. It ultimately kills the franchise. What I wish EA would do instead would be to resurrect what we use to get for pc on game franchises. And that is "Mission Packs" that would be great. Give me 20 to 25 maps some new vechicles and weapons and maybe a short 3 to 4 hour single player campaign and charge me 40 bux for it. That would be something I would rather have then being nickeled and dimed to death with dlc or having a new franchise every year.

I agree - replacing (rather than updating) a game should be driven by actual advances in technology or innovation rather than just revenue.
