 Minecraft "Free Weekend"
The Minecraft authentication server crashed due to heavy load, so the developer just made the game free until he can buy a better server. If you haven't heard about Minecraft yet, you have been living under a log. People are making entire cities in it - Rapture from Bioshock has been built underwater. http://minecraft.net/

 Re: Minecraft "Free Weekend"
I'm glad that an indie PC guy has had so much success but honestly I don't see what people like in this game.
_________________ PC fan: I hope you guys re-think and add dedicated server support in a patch later on in the game. IW: The game isn't balanced for hope.

 Re: Minecraft "Free Weekend"
I don't play games that are deliberately slow, as I already spend enough time gaming. Minecraft's popularity comes from its depth though. Check out what this guy made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kn2-d5a3 ... _embedded#!

 Re: Minecraft "Free Weekend"
Minecraft appeals to people who want to play with LEGOs but feel that it's not age appropriate.
I own the game and its actually very deep and the zombies and esp' creeper can scare the **** out of you when your mining. I think the gameplay makes up for the lackluster graphics like LOL. This game is an instant classic. But yea I saw it all over youtube and on CLG's (<-NA LOL WCG champs) livestream and though it looked dumb but then I saw just how open ended the game was and decided to give it a chance and it's very much an addictive game despite having low res visuals and no real goal other than to not get killed by skeletons riding giant spiders.

 Re: Minecraft "Free Weekend"
That is a total amazement and I wonder how he did that. It is such a great game and I am sure many will like it too. I am going to download it now.

 Re: Minecraft "Free Weekend"
I started playing this game again after the last patch and man did notch add allot of cool new stuff. It's pretty sad that 2010 had so many blockbuster games released and every single one of them were failures in my eyes. Luckily allot of great indie games came out and I would say that Minecraft is easily my game of the year and it's not even out of beta yet. Hopefully some good FPS games will come out this year I have high hopes for Brink and HOS and then Diablo III, Guild wars 2, and sims medieval come out and I am not sure about this but I think syndicate is getting a remake, hopefully it's true to the original series and not an FPS.
