my max fps went from 160 looking down streets to 179.

i am using alot of tweaks but with dx7 the game ran so smooth at 125 that it felt like 250 on cod4. i was using dx9 and it seemed that my 125 would dip slightly but not much. with dx7 it never dipped blow 125.


again im on x64 bit version of xp.

not sure what win 7 yields

If I force DX7 on Win 7 x64....it does nothing. I can't find a Win7 64-bit compatible version of DX7 either.

As far as I know putting dx7 as preferred renderer is snake oil (regardless of OS). The only working options for it is "shader model 2.0" and the default "shader model 3.0". You should be able to verify this by reading console output after loading the game.

hmm then my fps gain is a placebo. put doesnt explain my fps smoothness or gains in some spots.

Does direct x not control a lot more than shaders? It could also be than direct x 11 is not as backwards compatable as direct x 9. I'm not an expert but if you noticed such a difference i would run with it.
