Overall it's a pretty nice config, especially with the aspect ratio thing. Here's just some critiques:

r_herolighting 1 // I initially had mine set to 0, but players seemed darker so I put it back to 1
r_treescale 0 // cheat protected I believe
r_lightTweakSunDiffuseColor // cheat protected
r_rendererInUse // non-existant
r_rendererPreference dx7 // I've seen this in a lot of configs, but I believe there hasn't been an option to run in dx7 since cod2. Try "Shader Model 2.0" or something.
r_specular & r_distortion // pseudo commands, changing them does nothing apparently. Dumb treyarch can't even make specular toggle able :(
r_sse_skinning 0 // why is it turned off? I personally haven't benchmarked it but I doubt having it set to 0 would help (maybe it would revert to a different processing method e.g. mmx)
r_textureMode "GL_NEAREST_MIPMAP_NEAREST" // GL_NEAREST is faster according to cactus, havent benchmarked

r_sse_skinning 0 i again dont understand this. but this might take load of the cpu. im not sure if thats a good thing. as skinning will be done with the gfx card i assume. might have benefits to ppl with dual cores. im gonna try this setting.
r_textureMode "GL_NEAREST_MIPMAP_NEAREST" _ DOES NOT EXIST. i found this in a dvar dump. however it is not usable/ or the dump is wrong. i have noticed after a 3 demos no improvment

r_texFilterAnisoMax "4" // 1 is faster. true but i use 4 and then a min of 2.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anisotropic_filtering nowadays i think using minor AF settings is ok due to gfx cards and ther capabilities but to the average pc (aww by this i mean like a mid to low range puter) then maybe 1 is better than using AF (1=off)


r_zfeather // 0 is faster, related to smoothing smoke I believe. ---faster however enemies are more distinguished with "1" when in smoke. Promod now forces 0 because of this. (promod live i think)

Hit effects more than X are culled (not drawn). THis affects objects outside of- not in the viewing frustum.

Hit effects outside of the frustum will be culled.

First theory is that effects not in view are culled.
Second theory is that effects greater than the frustum are culled. i dont know. something that either i am wrong or the definition is misleading

Hit effects that are more than 1000 outside of the frustum will be culled." -- makes it sound like 1000 is a distance... not an affect or damage amount

r_texFilterAnisoMax
"Maximum anisotropy to use for texture filtering" - max overrides any Min value. in the wiki link (lol sounds like wiki leak) wikipedia states that some textures dont need "4" so a lesser anistropy is used like 2 well i just thought a max of 4 on all textures with a min of 2.

yes i do. its really nice on some maps others no. like firing range i do not like it.


its interesting you post using a 4:3 res with 16:10 wide aspect. mazarini's last config has the same. but he scopes, smg, and assault. his newest frag vid is him mostly scoping and hes right on the money. i see practicalities with using such a combo now. in the past i would say heck no.

heres something i found long time ago. its a nice tool

a 16:10 vs 4:3 will give u a wider fov. a must really for any player the problem is fps. i have a 16:9 23" lcd but it dont like 16:10 or the game doesnt scale it correctly. i hate using 16:9 because of the fps dip i get, noticeable on open maps mostly.

Back in cod4 i used to use 1280x1024 @ 16:10 as i found it easier to quickscope in promod, meh.

EDIT: Also when you used skytransition "1" did you fidn the sky looked wierd on Villa?

turnin this on gave me 1-2 fps loss .

was goin by " put random value n see what happens" technique
tested it ... had no noticable impact so i just set em to 0 0 0.7

ye...turning aa2 made fps definetly more stable for me also + better lookin gfx ..maybe even a minor fps boost.

its interesting you post using a 4:3 res with 16:10 wide aspect. mazarini's last config has the same. but he scopes, smg, and assault. his newest frag vid is him mostly scoping and hes right on the money. i see practicalities with using such a combo now. in the past i would say heck no.

a 16:10 vs 4:3 will give u a wider fov. a must really for any player the problem is fps. i have a 16:9 23" lcd but it dont like 16:10 or the game doesnt scale it correctly. i hate using 16:9 because of the fps dip i get, noticeable on open maps mostly.

mazarini mostly playd smg/ak in play with soul / paradox was scoping in that movie
and about cfg...u never kno unless u see his screen :)

anyway in cod4 theres no real need to do this... couse u allrdy get fovscale 1.125 and combining that with 16:10 is a bit of an overkill... i kno just 1 top player who uses it as main setting its miracle [smg]

With 16:10 i see the chat and the scoreboard very small, its diffuclt to read..there is a cvar that makes it more big? thx
