Post Semi Official Beta Patch??
Some guy on steam forums started topic and talking about new patch for beta... ??He says he is form DICE... Is this true or not we will see... Here is just one part of his post...

[QUOTE
*Multiple CTDs have been fixed, they are currently our top priority at the moment.

*Freezing on certain ATI cards and Nvidia cards have been resolved as well.

*85% of all the physical glitches have been fixed. (The reason this was happening was due to a very outdated vertex mapping system and physics system that was stable but is now of gone and updated)

*Recoil and Deviation added to half of all guns. M4, AKS74U, M249-SAW, PKM, Rocket Launchers, Pistols, SVD, and a few others.

*Tweaks to server browser, more accurate results and more stability

*Esc option now functional while in kit selection menu in game

*Pressing Y to bring up the chat window no longer freezes your player and screen.

*Minor buffs to explosives(M203, GP-25, C4, IEDs)

*Kill Streak Perks now shows a proper keyboard key for the abilities

*Multiple back end server support and stability fixes for a smoother game. (Multi map / game mode loading servers are coming)

*PB Support is being worked on. No ETA yet

*Loading screens have been optimized and addressed

*Sound effects for ribbons and kill streaks are now higher quality. (No more static booms)

*Surround Sound improvements

*Friends list is being improved

*Miscellaneous text fixes in the main menu and in other places

*Spawn text color is being looked at and improved

*Some new animations added and tweaked

*Tomahawk missile more sensitive

*UAV movement adjusted.

*Alignment with combat scopes and iron sights for SVD(low priority)

*Melee attack slightly adjusted

*Spectator Camera (I have seen the button but I don't think it has been implemented yet)

*VOIP on the way (Not sure if its going to make it into the beta though)

Seeing that they use the same engine as BFBC2, 99% of these "fixes" should not have been there in the first place...

Map bugs...yeah, they happen and need weeding out.

Good news - if this person is genuine - is PB support and surround sound fixes...although no mention of a) your own clubfoot stomping sounds and b) you can hear team mates running but NOT enemies!

Can't tweak my brightness. Game is very dark on CRT monitors, can't see blank. Not that this is the only problem but I agree - all those bugs were in BFBC2 beta, why are they still here when they've patched them out in the game?

Post Re: Semi Official Beta Patch??
I asked the producer Patrick Liu, a few questions about the current build of the beta. He of course will not make official statements on twitter to some random guy named "MrGanoosh" but I did get some answers.
(names edited for clarity):
Quote:
Me: can you say how final the MoH build is? like: how much polish is still coming for audio/graphics/gameplay?

Quote:
Patrick: the current beta build is from 5 months before launch date, so you can guess how done it is :) A lot is still to be done.

Quote:
Me: will you be patching/updating the beta as it goes along?

Quote:
Patrick: we will definitely address critical issues ASAP, like the PS3 crashes. Then we'll see. Changes will definitely go into final game

Before I continue, I just want to say how awesome it is that the producer of a AAA title responds online to joe-schmo-gamer with a few questions...I can't thank DICE enough for how awesome they've been about that.

Anyway, that's all i got out of him for now. I'm currently trying to find out who the actual lead programmer is for this game and if he's someone who communicates with the community. Repi (Johan Andersson), the guy who mainly builds the Frostbite engine is not on the MoH team and does not have a key role to play so he won't answer any questions about it like he did with BFBC2. I'm guessing without him taking part, he's gotta be working on something else that will fully utilize the Frostbite engine. that leaves me curious what the other guys will actually know how to do with that engine...lately with DICE, it seems that only one or two people have any idea how to fix any particular issue. So if most of my issues are with what they've done or can do with the engine: i.e. audio, graphics polishing, lean, prone, destruction...well...i'm not overly optimistic. I would wager a guess that all they work on from here on out are the bugs that cause crashes or improper functionality.

-The gun and character skins may get a much needed improvement for the final build...but beyond that, I am guessing (entirely) that the audio is terrible because they are using a different system than BC2. BC2 used a hole CPU core to process the audio...and because MoH's SP uses a different engine that undoubtedly does not do that...The MP probably uses the same audio system as the SP.

-I don't see them making the entire valley map larger (or the city map for that matter), or adding more players to MP-PC maps (24 isn't nearly as cool as 32, 48, or 64 like in the good old BF2 days).

-I don't think they'll add more destruction (which it really could use).

-I don't think they'll add lean, prone, run-strafe.

-As it's another DICE title using Frostbite 1.0, there'll be no public server files or mod-tools (just like BC2).

I believe I read somewhere that one major difference coming in Frostbite 2.0 is ease of program and modifying maps i.e. easy mod tools, so if they're ever going to make another game with mod tools, it won't be until it's a game utilizing the full Frostbite 2.0 (not 1.0 with destruction 2.0 like BC2), and even that's not a guarantee.

At this point in time, I can't recommend buying it. It's just too flawed. That being said it IS still a BETA lol, so there's always hope, but I just don't have much left

You know what, I believe it, why because the fixes make sense.

He posted this too, so if it true. Thumps up to him.

If I were to disclose my identity it would put my job in danger. I'm doing this for the love of the fans and to help out sinking sales from fans who believe we are half assing this. I am sorry that I cannot provide you with some identification but just take my word on this.

The seniors producers on this think it would be better for us to keep our mouths shut, instead of being more social with our community like we used to be.

But on the other hand,

We have been informed that this thread is not coming from anyone at DICE so I'm locking it.

That could just be a cover up though. HAHA
