Post Promod Server configuration
Hey, I'm having an issue setting up a promod 4.31 server. Everything is working fine so far except that I don't know what to set sv_wwwBaseurl to so that people can download the mod. I don't have a webserver, and really don't want to go to all the hassle of setting one up for this. I tried just pointing it at a site where you can download the mod (by copying the direct download link location into my config), but if I try to connect it goes nutty and the game crashes.

I know it has an internet connection - I had it stock for a day and people could connect to it. If it matters, server is running on linux, cod4 version is 1.7, promod version is 4.31

/edit
I don't suppose I could just use rapidshare or something for the time being, right?

Post Re: Promod Server configuration
Ok nevermind, I'm an idiot. I got rid of the http redirect entirely and it d/ls the mod fine now. Except now it gets stuck in this endless loop downloading over and over again.

Any ideas? I'm at a loss here. I just tried getting rid of the sv_wwwBaseurl line in my config altogether and it makes no difference at all.

Code:
clientDownload: 0 : beginning "mods/promod431/promod_release3_final.iwd"
clientDownload: 0 : file "mods/promod431/promod_release3_final.iwd" completed
clientDownload: 0 : beginning "mods/promod431/promod_release3_final.iwd"
clientDownload: 0 : file "mods/promod431/promod_release3_final.iwd" completed
clientDownload: 0 : beginning "mods/promod431/promod_release3_final.iwd"
clientDownload: 0 : file "mods/promod431/promod_release3_final.iwd" completed
clientDownload: 0 : beginning "mods/promod431/promod_release3_final.iwd"
clientDownload: 0 : file "mods/promod431/promod_release3_final.iwd" completed
clientDownload: 0 : beginning "mods/promod431/promod_releas...

If I turn off downloads on my client and then try to connect, it gives me an error telling me promod_release3_final.iwd has a bad checksum. I suspect something is wrong with my config so here is what appears to be the relevant bit. Don't laugh at me, I've never hosted a cod server before, so its probably something stupid/obvious to someone who has.

Code:
// Client Download Settings. (0=off/1=on) Used for MODs and custom maps
set sv_allowdownload "1"
seta sv_wwwDownload "0"

// Change this url if you change the z_custom_ruleset.iwd otherwise when
//joining the game you will be stuck in a continous loop,
// As there will be a .iwd mismatch

all I changed was wwwDownload to 0 because I don't have a redirect, and deleted the sv_wwwBaseurl line and the one that went with it (can't remember what it was, er...) because it seemed irrelevant if I'm not using a redirect. Made no difference with or without it so I dunno. I haven't changed the z_custom_ruleset.iwd at all either, whatever that means hahahaha.

Post Re: Promod Server configuration
Well, I changed the name of the folder the mod was in to match the name if the .iwd promod file and it worked for a while. Once it rotated to the next map it went back to stock though, and now when I try to connect after restarting it I get an error "file name/sum mismatch". I tried deleting the mod from my client to re-download it but it didn't help at all.

I'm sure I'm doing a number of things wrong here since I've never done this before and I couldn't find any really good info on the exact details of how to do everything. Here's what I'm using to launch my server:
Code:
./cod4_lnxded +set fs_game mods/promod_release3_final/ +exec promod.cfg +map_rotate

my promod.cfg is in main (as in the folder called main, not directory with the server executable in it). Haven't changed the config at all since I posted it in this thread earlier.

I'm gonna give up on it for now and just go play some games somewhere, but if anyone can help me out with this I would be ecstatic.

/edit

after a restart and leaving out the / at the end of fs_game mods/promod_release3_final (though that may just be a fluke, I thought it worked that way before) and some swearing at it, it seems to be fine. I tried a manual /rcon map_rotate and it rotated fine without switching back to stock. Gonna wait a bit and make sure it still stays promod when it switches maps on its own, but so far so good.
