The impressions of the Open MP Beta are just as varied as those that came out of the Closed Beta. I wanted to summarize where people are with Tier1...days before release, so it's poll time yet again.

I voted Disappointed.

I actually feel bad for the sorry bastards who poured their hearts out on this thing for the last 3 years. They got screwed by the somebody in the end. It shows.

@Dice Devs:

God Bless you guys. It's gotta hurt seeing your baby get beat up like this. My heart goes out to you. :cry:

@Dice and EA:

Stop making so many games at once. You have too much sh*t on your plate and it shows. Your guys have talent, they have proven themselves many times in the past. Give your people the time and resources they need to apply it.

I voted Abysmal, i hate the game that they will put this out for people to buy shocks me, it feels sluggish, and clunky. people who like it say its only a beta!!! but this beta is 2weeks work time off the finished game, its just a rubbish game. iv played both betas and both were rubbish, i really cant see any improvement on the open beta. this game will come out some poor people will buy it and play it think it is a average game and very buggy (as DICE like to give people a half finished game as a finished one), then people will go to CODBO as there is a higher level of polish on the COD game.

Well, my own Clan pre-ordered an MoH server ages ago. That was how confident we were that DICE would learn their lessons from BC:2.

However, after both Beta's, 50% of us are cancelling our pre-order's for the game. The other 50% are saying that they will just buy it for the SP, and to give us something new to play for a few weeks until CoD BO is released.

Not exactly a glowing report.

Personally, i enjoyed playing SqdDM in BC:2 and this feels quite similar. However, like BC:2, i cant see this game keeping me interested for more than a few weeks.

So i gave it a generous "Average".

I voted "disappointed." I think this pretty much sums up my opinion:

Dookie said what I feel. It also feels like a $60 expansion for BC2, which was a $50 game (and is now a $30 game).

Post Re: What is your impression of MoH Tier1 MP Open Beta?
I voted disappointed, and here are my reasons why:

I absolutely hated BC2 and knew from what I had read that this game was just a reskinned version of the game, so expected to hate MOH as well. However, when I actually installed and played MOH for the first couple of hours, I found it much better than BC2 because the hit registration was soooo much better than BC2 and the close combat feel of MOH much improved over BC2 because of the BS feeling of being overwhelmed by the sheer scale of BC2 maps. But, after a few more hours of playing and running out and dying, with absolutely no idea where you are getting shot from, only to respawn again and to have it happen all over again, I quickly missed the sense of presence you get in Call of Duty games.

And that is it with the MOH beta: you get no sense of personal presence in the game. No idea where the snipers are who camp all the choke points, and no idea if you are actually firing your weapon or not as there is no recoil and nothing else to indicate whether or not you are hitting the enemy. This is the thing about COD games: you have a sense of personal presence in the game. You can see the players because COD gets the scale of the whole level and avatars correct, you know where you are getting hit from because COD gets that right as well, and you know you are firing your weapon in PC even though we don't have the rumble packs that console controllers have to tell you because COD gets that right as well with plenty of indicators to let you know - from recoil to enemy hit indicators. Take away all that like BC2/MOH does and you just feel like a disembodied player with no presence in the game.

Also, once I had tweak the inversed mouse sensivity (why oh why do they default it to being on?), I found the avatar movement to be much improved from BC2, but still nowhere near as fluid as COD's avatar movement. You still have that lead boot feeling.

As I said - disappointed as I so want another franchise to at least compete with COD, as I hate having all the FPS eggs in one basket. To do that, however, a competitor to COD has to be exceptional, and MOH is not it.

Just to point out that, to quit out of the game, click the button ABOVE the one you are clicking in that image - the one that says "QUIT". I kept doing exactly what you are doing in that image, and felt exactly the same as you did.

Post Re: What is your impression of MoH Tier1 MP Open Beta?
I played the new beta for a couple of hours yesterday.
I really like BC2 and while playing MoH is kind of fun (I could happily play it for a while), it just isn't as much fun as BC2.
BC2 feels more frantic, more chaotic and more action-packed. The vehicles and destructible terrain really mark it out from the FPS crowd.
MoH by contrast feels just like the plethora of modern-day combat FPS titles around. Not bad, but not exceptional. And not enough to make me want to spend money on.
Unlike the original beta, I wasn't crashing out of the game every five minutes - this one took a couple of hours.
One thing that did annoy me about the original beta (and still annoys me about this one) is the unlock system they have used.
Rather than have a dedicated support gunner with LMG, you only get access to the LMG after you have reached a certain rank. I appreciate that all games have restricted weapons but none I can recall have restricted weapon types. That is just wrong.

This beta was a lot better than the first beta. Mouse acceleration, guns, keyboard controls all were a lot better. I am looking forward to it. I don't think it will be a junk game like Airborne or PA was.

Also, kudos to dice to put this beta out to test their backend server issues, so hopefully we won't have the problems we did in BC2. At least they are taking the times to try and work out their issues BEFORE release.

However, I think you would be crazy to say this is going to be a COD killer. But lets not forget Treyarch's last COD game and how long it took them to patch and support it(3 months+). So I guess we will have to wait and see.

But even if COD is solid on release, I could still see me playing MOH from time to time after I rank up in COD. Either way, releasing two solid shooters right before winter is great for the pc community. Also, with the BC2 expansion this winter too, it's going to be one of the best winters for gaming that we have had for a long time, hell maybe all time.

I voted good. I was torn between "average" and "good" because this game is fun to play, and I will be getting it as a gift so I don't have that heaviness on me about how much it costs. I think they did a lot of things right and I like the idea of the maps, but there are a few places that I think were executed very poorly, almost as though they just didn't have time to do more.

The flaws in this game (while playing...and there are a bunch) make me laugh most of the time, and make it feel like it's not a serious game. I think the SP looks great in the preview videos so hopefully that will make it at least a well-rounded game. I will not be suggesting this to my clan or anything, but I did suggest they try the beta to see if it was anything that interested them as a time-killer haha.

I do like the simplicity of it all. The unlocks are something to look forward to and worth something on the battlefield. I don't like that i can't chose between frag and smoke grenades, and I don't like that only one class has them because NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE USE THEM IN THE BETA lol (can be really frustrating on the offensive side). I hate MW2's kill-streaks...all of them, and these are much more tolerable to me. I think the recoil level where it is allows just enough inaccuracy to give people a smidge of trouble hitting targets, but at the same time makes it all about how fast you can lock on to your target, much more like playing COD4, as you can stalk or hug walls to round corners while looking down the sights to make sure you'll get the first shot off when you and your enemy see each-other. I like that it gives that back. BC2, you just run...a LOT...and then "oh hey there's a guy" and then the shooter part kicks into effect. I love that game, but this one is different enough that it feels new and fun with some remants of some of my favorite older shooters.

Yes, there are several issues with the game, and no, i don't see it being competitive, but I do think it's fun, and I will be playing it here and there.
