CoD4, Fraps, my terrible machine, and the search for quality
Hi everyone, this is my first post. Long time lurker, been a fan of the podcasts and the Yitch config since I started playing CoD4 around 9 months ago. Gotta say I love this website and the community!

I've been recording demos for a long time to review my own gameplay in an effort to improve. Recently I discovered there is a quite large Youtube community that posts their gameplay with commentary and I'd like to test the waters. I feel this would be a great way to put myself out there as a player to the community, to receive feedback as well as helping me externalize the parts of my play that need work. From my experiences in life, you learn quite a bit from teaching, so writing down what I'd like to help my viewers with and criticizing myself publicly should be a great motivator to help do my best.
Here is where the trouble begins to crop up. I'm using Fraps to record my demos, and I ramp up the graphics settings to much higher levels than when I play. As it stands the status quo is 720p resolution with standard XBOX360 and PS3 graphics settings. I know that I cannot achieve this, here's why:
Processor: AMD 3200+ 64-bit 2 ghz
RAM: 1gb DDR
GFXCard: HD4870 1gb AGP
This is of course why I use yitch3 as my standard cfg. I've been working on a cfg that will result in a stable 30 fps with as high as possible gfx settings. What I'm using at the moment is textures on extra, spec map enabled, 1024x768 res, glow, bullet impacts, dynamic lights at normal, anti-aliasing at 2x and texture filter at bilinear. /com_maxfps 30 with Fraps set to 30. This results of course in around an average of 15 fps. There is an example here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rU0AhzRvxJAThe reason I've come here is to ask if there's a way to get somewhere near this level of detail while achieving a solid 30 fps. I know that I'm likely forced to give up most of the effects, but if anyone with some serious cfg and fps experience can point me in right direction towards quality and HD without a terrible maximum framerate of around 15 I'd be very appreciative.
I've considered using avidemo which does result in slightly higher quality, however the time investment is simply too significant. One 15 minute match takes 12 hours or so for me to capture, then processing with Vdub adds another 3-4 hours. Considering that I work at home on my PC, have classes on my PC and have no access to another PC with which to do either, it is simply not viable.
Thanks a lot for reading, and have a nice day!
