The opening posts link mentions nothing about pc having to pay for the DLC does it?

I simply do not understand how paid DLC for ranked dedicated servers can work, unless treyarch believes its ok to disconnect clients from a dedicated server when it switches to a map they dont have!

here is the statement from the link

"Dubbed 'First Strike,' the pack of five maps will launch on February 1, 2011, priced at 1,200 Microsoft Points ($15). As per Microsoft's arrangement with publisher Activision, it'll be released first on Xbox 360. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map packs released under the same arrangement took around a month to make it PC and PlayStation 3."

now it doesnt say pc or ps3 will pay but i 100% guarantee it will.. if they are making xbox pay then they are going to make the rest pay.. its that simple..

I've been on the fence about buying DLC. In one game today I had several instances of the "Gun Jam Bug". I've been mostly lucky performance wise but there have definitely been issues.

I guess I'm off the fence now. If the game still performs like this come DLC time, not just no, but HELL NO.

DLC worked ok on Steam/MW2 because it used that crappy IWNet lobby. In that model, paid DLC works, but for dedicated servers I can't see how it can.

I am still hopeful that it will be free for PC because of this, but I guess we will have to wait and see.

Still, not long till Homeland and HoS ;)

I just hope they get the mod tools out while the games big.I do'nt think they'll make a lot of money in dlc compared to game sales its more about there promises to Microsoft .Id say most of the work at the moment is about getting it to work on the Ps3 apparently there having a nightmare time.

When mod tools come out, we will just make remakes of the DLC maps anyway.

DO NOT BUY DLC.

You mean the same way MW2 maps were remade in CoD4 and no one played them?

So how does the DLC work on MW2? Like what is the actual process of buying it and telling the game that you have purchased it?

This is what I am interested in because I don't really understand how this can be controlled on the client side.

i do'nt know exactly how it worked , but i payed for it, downloaded it on steam and then the servers that had the maps you could play on. Thing was the game was completely unplayable after the download, for some reason it doubled my lag .Good thing was i rediscovered cod 4.
