LemoN wrote: So they're still using the same old engine with horrible textures/explosions. Well first of all, a lot of COD people play the game because of the feel of that engine. COD in the past has been one of the smoothest avatar movement in a fps game. Like it or not, that's one of the biggest reasons of it being the number one sold game every year. It doesn't compare with BF3 or Crysis on graphics, but still better than games like Homefront and ROHOS. At least some games (BF3) have finally admitted that there are new things to do graphically and in gameplay. Def agree. I find it funny that some games say they are made for the pc, yet the graphics look 5 years old. If you want to make a game for pc, then push the limits and make it a pc game. Instead they look like console games on a pc.. lol

Personally I find the Unreal engine just looks dated, Sweeney needs to get his act together. http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-C ... re?aid=532

These two don't look exactly dated, quite the opposite, then again it's a custom UE. Though Stalingrad wasn't exactly the cheeriest and prettiest of places to begin with. UE with Dx11 looks much better than most engines out there, including some supposedly "awesome" new ones. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSXyztq_0uM

The lighting is nice but the textures look low resolution. I'm not a big eye candy guy and I'll play games that don't have good graphics if the game play is there. I just haven't been impressed by any games using the unreal engine graphics-wise in a long time.

Newer builds of the game have been reported as far better looking with much better textures. Just look at the textures of the soldiers, for instance, much better than the surroundings. And since the beta has started I think it's safe to say that's an area they've improved, I'm sure.

But that doesn't change the fact that I feel that Sweeney is 100% putting all his effort into making the engine look great on consoles and not future hardware like Carmack or DICE are.

In regards to reported "better textures" of course they are going to say that. That is just the same as IW mentioning destruction or having a newer modified engine.
