NO. Could have said the same for Treyarch (first WAW, then BO) but the answer remains the same. IW is not what it used to be...it don't count. Respawn is a hideous joke of a developer (how else to categorize FB gaming and console focus?) that got to where it was thanks to a great game on pc that was blah, blah, blah...

2) Do you think there is much of a community left?

Not sure I know what you mean. I was not part of the RO1 community and I have only briefly touched the TWI forums. Although I like/don't like games, I very often go with what my clan majority does. It means at times buying games I don't really enjoy or remain with for a long time. Such is clan life I guess.

My clan goes for fun first and then competetiveness for longevity. That's why COD4 has remained the mainstay of our clan. It is easy to get a match and ladders all over the place. We have a team in the RO2 opening cup and first match ended a 4-0 victory after some server issues.

BFBC2 had something like 12 client patches and 18 server patches and it still has a good number of players.

I think RO2 still has enough in it to keep the "hardcore" RO player interested. I am not so sure it will manage to retain all that many of it's new players due to what I mentioned above. For that to happen the game would really need to be silky smooth and slick...which it ain't.

Iv already told you this they never said that, they said soon after release and the beta SDK was out in the third week i think..... :D

I don't understand why they released it when they did

Easy they ran out of money... they couldn't really do anything about that being such a small indie dev team. :P

Even though their game was very buggy at launch i have gotten better and faster support then i got from DICE or Treyarch when their games were very buggy at release. So if anything i am more likely to buy TWI games as they have shown very good support. :)

and we will be getting free DLC which seems to be unheard in today's AAA games :P

BC2 had free DLC. COD4 had free DLC. WaW had free DLC. So not unheard of.

I think a lot of the 10 thousand that came to RO2, came expecting the COD/BF "point 'n click" game.
What they found was themselves being massacred and not being able to take it. It is a very hard game to get into. I too am sorry it ever got compared to COD as it did them no favours at all...apart from selling more units day 1.

JC even posted here, in this very forum, comments to the article where he moved away from calling it a COD killer. He knows what he's been spending the last 5 years doing and it was not spent creating COD v2.0.1.

We can bash (no pun intended) RO2 for bugs, lack of marketing and whatever else we want, but even this release did not go anywhere near the failure day 1 that was Black Ops. So IMO, the player drop is more than likely down to gamers not liking the learning curve.

What is the learning curve in this game? Have been wondering about that. The general controls are the same as with most games. Is it knowing how to be an effective commander/ SL when there are no real instructions in the game on what/how to spot, etc, or map reading, special camping skills, etc., for example? Or is the learning curve higher for players from other games with efficient game mechanics such as more precise avatar movement than this game (for example, in this game you seem to skate when you try to come to a sudden stop - removing the point and click ability in this game).

As messed up as B0 is, play HoS and then open up B0 and you will feel a huge difference in precision. They say this is a skill-based game and just wondering where the skill requirement is. Is the learning curve related to this supposed special skill required to play this game. The bolts (most players in this game seem to use bolts) seem easier in HoS than in most CoD titles to me with CoDs faster moving targets, etc. The game definitely has its own unique attributes, which must be learned, but I don't think those are rocket science.

Well it's unheard of to Joe. Because he chooses to ignore the facts. That's why everything in that post he posted is wrong as usual.

But I wouldn't waste your time trying to explain it to him. He's just trying to post disingenuous things so he can troll.

:agree

As for a steep learning curve.. I never understood that either. Figured it was just a excuse for poor gameplay. I didn't have any trouble picking up weapons and killing people.

LOL, no I would not go as far as describing it as rocket science either. It is a combination of new keybinds (an awful lot of them too), learning how/what the objectives are and how to get them, weapons handling - not just the sliding to a halt but crouch/sprint and prone/sprint + the lenght of time it takes to reload/change weapon and hipfire which works completely differently from already mentioned BO. Agreed, BO today runs an hell of a lot smoother but that particular point was aimed at the botched release, not general gameplay.

The learning curve is a combination of the above and certainly when it comes to making points. Lots and lots of players find a nice spot and camp. Great for their k/d but useless and more so than in any other game with regards to helping your team win.

As I mentioned, we just played a match. We started off very tactically and it dragged on. Then we rushed the objectives and camped in and around it and the objectives fell one by one in quick succession. This is not casting judgement on the game but rather on the opposition. They had flanked us and waiting lol. So, "learning" the game is more complicated than...well BO for example.

The average BF/COD gamer that picks up a gun and runs will have a much harder time of it in the beginning. That's it.

Yes but MW3 (in the present day) will not have free DLC, BF3 i am not so sure about (back to karkand isn't for sure). And on a side note BFBC2 was mostly just map conversions, their map packs failed.... oh and being called a troll by TRTL must get me some type of medal??? :P

As for the learning curve, this game is harder for me then BO. In BO i just run around and shoot everyone its to easy for me and i don't feel for filled. RO2 it is harder in RO2 you feel like a person when sprinting, not usain bolt on speed like in COD. You skid to a halt after running because a person wearing a big pack would skid to a halt, or else he would fall arse over tit :D

Technically WaW didn't have free DLC. The only reason PC gamers didn't have to pay for it is because Nvidia (think it was them) sponsored the pack.

Anyway, I have jumped back into playing RO2 now and again. It's probably because I love playing with the bolt rifles and TE is fun. When people talk about the learning curve I don't think that is what its about. It's about patience. The machine guns have a lot more recoil than other titles such as CoD or BF so when coming up at an enemy you can't just aim and hold the mouse button down. That doesn't work especially from mid-range. You need to be patient with your shots.

RO2 like it's predecessor is a niche game to most. While I like to an extent, it's not a game for me that I can see me playing hours on end. It's more like TF2 to me, not in the style of game for obvious reasons, but that I will most likely play it from time-to-time. Some may have bought because of it being a PC only title but at the end of the day, for some reason or another, they didn't fully enjoy it.

They did convert 3-4 maps to all gametypes. But they also released 3 new maps for free. Their map packs didn't fail at all, because they were all free. You could run them on your servers and everyone had them.

Not sure about that..
