GameSpy: Rising Storm is looking good. Any release window beyond sometime before Fall 2012? How about pricing and distribution?

Alan: All a bit speculative at the moment, but... the aim is a release over Steam (plus other digital channels, possibly retail if it is worthwhile) sometime next summer. Pricing: we haven't really thought about it too carefully yet -- and that will partly depend on the finished product, of course.

GameSpy: Speaking of pricing, I understand the modding team will have the opportunity to make money on this project, even though Rising Storm isn't officially a "paid gig." Can you tell us how that will work?

Alan: In principle, there is a pool of cash that the team will share when they deliver a finished product and, if it is good enough to sell as a full add-on (which it should be!), the team will continue to earn money in royalties off the back end. So, no, they are not getting paid to do the work - this was always described as "a mod with benefits." Some people have approached the team with the mindset that it is paying gig, which it isn't. We're taking a risk with it, asking the team to do the same. If it works as planned, then everyone wins!
