Post Lag Compensation cod's bane
Interesting video minus the guy's monotone voice (guess i was expecting a british accent darn)

This explains a lot for me and why my experience sucks and i thought it was just me failing to adapt to the game, new guns, maps... nope. not at all

I too have this problem, my ping is really low and my connection fast. I have had a couple of games where I have been a killing machine but, rest of time seem not to be able to hit a barn door.

How can you add delay to your connection? Is it a setting in the config_mp file? It is possible my good matches were in hacked lobbies that I have just been reading about but I doubt it.

BTW it is monotone not monologue

You're always going to have problems like this with online gaming, but it's an order of magnitude worse with P2P. This is the traditional formula:

Code:
Command Execution Time = Current Server Time - Packet Latency - Client View Interpolation

In an effort to negate host advantage, I'm guessing MW3's netcode imposes an additional interpolation delay ("lerp") on low-ping clients, probably on some kind of sliding scale. That would explain why the guy in the video is getting shot multiple times at the moment his high-ping attacker comes into view. If the lerp time is set too high, the lower-ping client's latency advantage would actually translate into a disadvantage, compared to the higher-ping client with lower lerp.

I'm speculating, but it seems obvious that, in real time, the high-ping attacker is getting player position updates a lot sooner.

yea i believe it was late when i found/posted this video i came across so excuse my spelling

i discussed with my team this and they told me their connections... its so true. the guys on my team that are able to go around without this problem have connections speeds less than 5megs download... some not even 2megs down and they have no problem. Me on the other hand im pushing 50megs down and 10 megs up.End result my connection through IW's new netcode gets either extrapolated or interpolated when playing UNLESS im playing with foreign hosts then i can do good but its not right. people should not be reward for higher latency and punished for lower latency.

i dont know if this could ever be tweaked or not either..

If they don't fix it it just shows IW really do not care about PC they just want the cash (which they do) :|

I find it hilarious how they are trying to make PC more like consoles. With consoles, everything is the same...and that is impossible with PC considering the hundreds of thousands of variations in computer hardware and software.

Making the gaming experience worse for those who deserve a lag-free experience is wrong imo but I am glad there is a fix of sorts out there.

That thread is... well just stupid. most of those settings are graphic settings and have nothing to do with lag compensation. ppl thing lag compensation means the person is lagging. NO its the net code or whatever is in place that nerfs people internet or causes lag to prevent anyone with a good connection from having an advantage.
