 Re: MW2 PC Optimism
After listening to the latest bash, I had to vote 0%. I tried to listen between the lines, but all I heard was glib promises of the same nature that politicians make. "Listen to what Im saying, but dont try to understand it". In my estimation, IW has either
1. Figured it has the PC community by the short hairs and we will take whatever swill they shove in our plates, or 2. They figure the PC community is so small and insignificant in total bucks that they dont give a damn., or 3. They figure that we are so dull-witted that we will be happy with a shiny wrapper.
All in all, I see no reason to jump in the mw2 koolaid line and take a swallow so I just cancelled my preorder for the game. Or should I say shell-game?

 Re: MW2 PC Optimism
i was already at 0% so i wasnt expecting much to begin with, so after the initial shock i found out that i must have unconsciously have been expecting it.
Though i think they have a system in place to replace the current one if it fails, if im right i think they did have dedicated server support for the game working in conjunction with their new system just in case their "plan" failed.s

 Re: MW2 PC Optimism
well there you go, hoped for better should have known better..gutted doesn't cover it changed my vote to 0% IF WANTED TO PLAY LIKE AND BE TREATED LIKE A CONSOLE GAMER I'D BUY A PS360 OR WHATEVER the whole essence of the game for me is the clan based servers not only ours but the other ones i regularly visit.the different friends you have on each where do you meet up them? the mods new maps that's what keeps the game alive..on your own server you can kick or ban the moaners and cheats what right do you have to kick some body on a public server just because he's an arsehole..clans need control of their own servers for all sorts of reasons..I GUESS WE'VE JUST BEEN SHAFTED..

I want 402's head on a platter, he's supposed to be community manager and that interview shows the lack of knowledge he has on the community. He failed to do his job and I bet IW will do something about it. Voted 0% for the lack of respect IW has given the pc community.

 Re: MW2 PC Optimism
They should defuse these rumors as quickly as possible because I wont buy a game if there are no dedi servers. 0% for now This peer-to-peer playing like in OF:DR is just a catastrophe.
How can they leave this out? They had it in all of their games. Disabling the servers must be more work than leaving them in. If its true the clans will have to wait for a cool game.

 Re: MW2 PC Optimism
I'm highly dissapointed in IW. I've been playing the COD series from the very beginning. I'm currently playing WAW. As far as I'm concerned with MW2 I won't be shelling out $60 for the game unless dedi's are available. Some of the features provided by IW.net/Steam would be nice (patching #1), but there's no replacement to growth or longevity that a dedi-environment brings to PC gaming.
I'd be interested in seeing the stats on console vs pc life cycle. How soon are games shelved with in each genre? And, 3/6/9 month out sales patterns for each. I mean for god sakes there's still BF1942/BFVietnam servers up and running.
As of posting the petition has reached (29,349) signatures. If all signees opt out of purchasing IW will lose out on $1,760,940.00 in sales @ $60 per sell.

 Re: MW2 PC Optimism
I'm still keeping my vote at 80%. I linked to my original thoughts on page 2 and most of what I predicted was incorrect. I did a follow up on my site.
Anyway, I'm not a competitive player and my main hobby is not modding nor mapping. Other than getting used to a new system, my entertainment levels will most likely increase due to the matchmaking. My community and I won't have to worry with trying to populate a server for a new game. We will just continue to support the current releases as far as server renting goes and will also support MW2 however we can provided it does halfway work upon release. As for the future, if CoD no longer offers dedicated support, my community may have to keep an eye out to possibly start supporting other games.
I feel bad for those of you who are competitive or might have been looking forward to doing a lot of custom things with MW2. I did sign the petition to help support you guys. I will be buying this game not only as a dedicated fan but to also rip the game apart and see just how different it all is. It's hard for me to really take a guess at what we'll actually be dealing with or what we might be able to do with the game. The game still looks sweet as hell and despite the bad news we all heard on Saturday, I'm still not ready to give up on it.
Good luck to those who have been hit hardest by the news. Our community has always been used to working through difficult situations. This one game doesn't have to be the end, we don't have to support it if there's nothing in there for us to support.

Matchmaking is boring, you have to learn the hard way to get good and if matchmaking means rank only then its completely useless. Twofingers wrote: Anyway, I'm not a competitive player and my main hobby is not modding nor mapping. Im not really modding or mapping yet but I dont want to play the same 10maps for 2 years. How can they kill something like that that keeps their game alive for longer and that doesnt cost them anything?
