Call of Duty Induction Rules, Requirements and Regulations
Revision: 1.03
Date: September 21, 2007
I Foreward
BASHandSlash.com as the custodian of the Call of Duty Hall of Fame (CoD HoF) since its inception in September of 2007, presents herein, the requirements for induction and the regulations for continued membership.
II Purpose
The CoD HoF's purpose is the recognize the efforts of the online community that makes up the Call of Duty world wide gaming family. Nominees are recognized by the community and selected for induction by senior members of the BASHandSlash.com website. Induction into the HoF, while an honor, is also a burden: a burden of responsibility to maintain the high standards the community has placed on the inductee. It is hoped that by formalizing recognition through such a mechanism as a HoF, more and more members of the CoD community will be enticed to give of their free time and participate in the struggle to make our online community the pre-eminent FPS community in the world.
III Legal
The requirements laid out in this article, with respect to the CoD HoF, supersede any other articles posted on this website or anyother.
The nominees and inductees agree to abide by the regulations set forth in this article.
IV Requirements for nomination
Candidates for induction may are nominated by the general public; however, the senior members of BASHandSlash.com Boards (also known as "FiveStar" members, or "the council") may over-rule these nominations if for some reason they do not conform to the rules set below. Appeals may be made (see Appeal Process).
1. Candidates must be nominated to either one of these categories:
A) Builders
Communities do not simply spring forth instantaneously: they are built. These builders are the people honored in this category. The construction process requires both ideas and money. In general, Builders have both. These are the folks who tirelessly dream up ways to enhance all our gaming experiences and in many cases pay to make those dreams a reality. Examples of the Builder genre are: the game server admin, the fansite admin, the clan leaders an the tournament organizers.
B) Coders/Mappers/modders/scripters
The brains of the community, the coders, mappers and scripters in our midst provide us with variety. If it was not for the coders, the game might still not function as well as it does. And if it was not for the mappers, we would all be suffering from collective boredom from playing the same stock maps only a month or so after the game was released. Without the scripters, the game would have only one flavor: vanilla.
C) Players
The heart of the community. When it all comes down to it, we buy these games because we are players. However, while many play - few have the capacity for greatness. This forum recognizes those with that capacity.
Note that we differentiate but do not restrict both enthusiast (amateur players) and professionals gamers.
D) Corporate liaisons
Game manufacturers feed our need - those that tap into their members desires: succeed. The coroporates have a place in this Hall alongside their customers. This category chooses the best community liaisons the manufacturers have produced.
2. Community Service
One of the key requirements for being inducted is long time community service. We require proof that the inductee has spent at least two years minimum being active in the CoD community; however, there is no requirement that the nominee be currently active.
We are
currently not accepting nominations for work on CoD4 however, as that
game has not even been released.
3. Behavior and Conduct
The nominee must have demonstrated (and the inductee must continue to demonstrate) responsibility to the community. The nominee must be deemed to be of good character (and maintain that standard if they are elected to the HoF).
V Election Regulations and Procedures

c) If the nominee does not gain entry, their name is withdrawn. However, the person can be renominated after a one month period.
d) Voting for inclusion in the Hall of Fame may not occur more than once a month.
3. Special Voting Procedures
During
special situations, BASHandSlash.com reserves the right to conduct
relative voting (selection of nominees relative to other nominees).
This form of voting may be used if there is an especially large influx
of nominees.
VI Appeals
Nominators may appeal the balloting for their chosen nominees by petitioning the BASHandSlash.com ombudsmen: SysAdmin and Moderators.
The ruling of the ombudsmen is final.
