Another CoD modding great joins us on BASH this week. None other than BASHandSlash.com Call-of-Duty Hall of Fame modder: Bullet-worm.
The interview with "the worm" was conducted only a day after Bullet-worm released the beta version of the Call of Duty competition mod, PAM, to server admins. He had just done an all-nighter to
get it finished and was nice enough to come on BASH to tell all of you
what PAM is all about.
Well...what is PAM all about?
BASHandSlash.com did a feature article on this mod last week. You can read all about it, here.
Houston-based Bullet-worm was a wonderful interviewee. He was sharp and very knowledgeable about his favorite subject: modding!
In this interview we explored the subject of CoD4 modding and specifically the final word in competition mods: the Project Ares Mod or PAM.
It was tough editing down all of worm's pearls of wisdom; but, we gave it a try! Here is the interview:
Show Notes:
Introductions and we introduce Bullet-worm's website: wormsworld.net .
We delve into worm's gaming biography and explore his role in the infamous infostring problem in cod2.
For all the newcomers in CoD4 that have no idea about PAM, or modding or tournaments, we delve closer into competition mods.
What is Project Ares Mod (PAM)?
Who initially created it (Garetjax...etc.)?
Who asked you to take it into CoD4?
Who are you working with on this project.
Does the PAM 4 mod affect the client side executable or is this simply a server side configuration modification?
What are the challenges to modding COD4 relative to CoD2?
Does PAM allow tweaking so that different tournaments/groups can select different settings?
Are you working with any tournament specifically?
What tournaments does the mod cater to?
You attended the CEVO meeting a while back - what was all that about.
When does the mod come out? Note: As of this date, PAM is at version 2.5 (or will be by tomorrow!).
What other mods have come out already and how is PAM different. The DAMN mod came out at the same time CoD4 was released - what was the DAMN mod and how did it come out so fast?
Is there a Euro vs. N.American split over rules? Did that split affect any coding you did?
