CoD2: PB updates
Written by jockyitch

Just spoke to Micah, who is a member of Even Balance's Punk Buster staff, regarding the CoD2 "Packet Loss" issue.

Micah urges all CoD2 Server Admins to ensure that they have the very latest Punk Buster version running on their machines. Apparently, the latest version fixes a few issues including the dreaded kick for packet loss, which I reported here months and months ago. The latest version came out at the first of the month. I have personally noticed that some CoD2 servers have not been updated with this latest version and according to Micah, the number of packet loss kicks should drop.

Server Update:

 Wednesday 10.01.2008 [3:45PM]

Version 1.695 of the PB Server for CoD2 has been released to our PB Master Servers for auto-update and to our website download page. This is a maintenance release.

Note that the PB Client should also be updated, it was revised last week:

Client Update:

Wednesday 10.08.2008 [3:30PM]

Version 2.125 of the PB Client for CoD2 has been released to our PB Master Servers for auto-update and to our website download page. This is a maintenance release.

If your system does not download PB files automatically (this will happen if you have a firewall up), you can get them here.

For you admins out there, if you are still having problems with PB not updating, email Micah at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

CoD2 has been getting harder and harder to play lately as the its fanbase keeps dwindling. Making things worse, the Master Server (where your game's browser keeps a list of available MP servers) went down on the weekend. It is back up now and only show 1800 servers (was 3000 only last week).

On the positive side of things, PB is still being updated for it - kudos to Even Balance (see...I can say nice things about them from time to time).
