The title for this week’s show was too hard to pass up; however, the
topics are hardly noobish. On BASH today we have DaN, the Internal
Co-ordinator (i.e. head-honcho) over at the Battle for Europe (BFE) tournament.
In the CoD scene, BFE has been around for almost five years! In that
time they have been sold to MyIS, run tournaments in CoD2 and CoD4 and
now, as DaN explains, the BFE juggernaut is heading to CoD:WW.
With only a few weeks at being at the helm of BFE, DaN tells us what
it’s like to be running one of the most successful online tournaments
in CoD.
Find out what goes on behind the scenes at BFE and what they have in
store for their membership in today’s program.
Battle for Europe is a great online experience, somewhere between an
FPS and an MMO. It’s open to players on both sides of the Atlantic, so
if you want to know more about what it takes to join BFE, read here.
Show Notes:
Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to BASH, I am your host Jock Yitch. This
week, we feature friends of the show, The Battle For Europe tournament
at Bfecod.com.
BFE is a group that have been on BASH in the past, but it will be the
first time for my special guest, who is BFE's new Internal Coordinator
please let me welcome DaN to the program.
1. Introductions
Where are you from Dan?
For those that do not know you, please give us a quick rundown of your gaming bio.
How long have you been with Battle for Europe?
2. We have featured BFE a couple of times here on BASH, but for those
who do not know much about it briefly describe the concept of BFEcod.
3. I remember BFE from the CoD2 tournament you put on. Essentially it was a cross between an MMO and an FPS.
With the onset of CoD4 you folks created an environment which was
somewhat of an extension of the SP version of the game. Specifically
you guys came up with a story line based on current events that spiral
out of control leading to a third world war. How did that storyline pan
out?
a) How has the CoD4 experience been? Have you been
as successful with the tournament in a modern warfare setting as you
were in CoD2?
b) For you, what was more satisfying CoD2 or 4?
c) What were some of the challenges in bringing the tournament to CoD4?
4. You are the internal coordinator at BFE. What does that role entail?
5. Who took over the mantle of IC from Stuart (aka JD).
6. BFE has always been on the forefront of multimedia technology. Tell
us about some of what your group is doing and has done in the past to
make bfe a total experience, not just an in-game experience.
a) Let's start off with your podcasts. If I recall one of your members
(Dark) started podcasting bfe news (...if i recall we may have
influenced him here at BASH :))
b) Is E-rev still casting your battles?
7. Very briefly, where are you in your current campaign and when is the next one starting. How does one sign up?
8. World at War is around the corner:
a) What do you think of what you have seen?
b) Is it safe to assume that BFE will pick up CoD:WW?
c) CoD:WW takes place in two theaters - unconnected theaters. Do you
have any vision on how the tournament will be run? Will you maintain
those two non-contiguous theaters - or will you simply take the
German-Russian campaign.
What I'm asking is...will it still be Battle for Europe - or will you change the name to, I dunno, Battle for Okinawa?
9. Tell me about your relationship with MyInternet Services. What do
they provide for you? How did the transition from the old bfe
tournament to MyIS happen? Was the bfe tournament sold to MyIS?
10. I see that on your site it says hat you are part of the TGN
(TotalGamingNetwork) network. Explain the relationship between MyIS,
TGN and BFE.
11. Immediate plans for the next few months.
12. Shoutouts
