BASH 107: Nabore
Written by jockyitch

For some like myself, the thought of a professional NA CoD season without Joe Amorosa (aka Nabore) at the helm of the perennial favorites Team Pandemic is unthinkable.

Yet here we are.

When Nabore took me aside the other day to let me know he officially was turning in his M16, it was not unexpected but still a shock.

In today’s podcast Nabore tells us the reasons behind his decision.

Another shell-shocker in this podcast is that, not only is Joe leaving, he let’s it out that his Pandemic-teammate and good friend Justin DeMara, aka prank`, arguably the best sniper to have ever played any CoD game, is also calling it quits.

We asked Nabore all the obvious questions regarding his career and threw in some curves as well. The podcast is compelling and emotional.

If you love CoD competitive play, chances are you have seen Nabore in action. Have a listen and bid this champion adieu.

SHOW NOTES:

One of the greatest online players in the history of competitive Call of Duty gaming is set to hang up his M16, the captain of Team Pandemic, they call him Nabore...Joe Amorosa is calling it a day.

I knew something was up with Joe when i noticed he logged 62 hours of Atlantica last week, 4 hrs of Warcraft and only 1 hr of CoD4 and CoD2 each. :)

1. Joe why are you leaving competitive CoD?
2. Was this a difficult decision to make?
3. Have you told your teammates and what did they think of your decision?

A career with nearly $60,000 in winnings... Top finishes in events that included CEVO-P Seasons 2 and 3, the 2009 Gotfrag Tournament, TGL-Open Season 2 , FGL Season 1 and the  Antwerp Esports Festival...the list just goes on and on...

You've been winning since 2004...

4. We have gone through your bio many months ago when we did Stratcallin, one of the very first episodes we did with you, but for those who have forgotten give me a run down of your gaming career.

- how long have you been playing competitively?
- when did you know you would be a competitive player?

5. There are many kids listening to this that probably think they could be competitive players. What does it take to play at your level? I'm looking at the commitment required here. Explain the regimen, both the practice and the mental discipline required to be able to play competitively.

6. Have you thought what it will be like to give up competitive gaming? After all you have been in a regular routine for a long time - what will you miss most?

7. What was the best version of CoD for competition and why?

8. What was the highlight of your career?

- what games did you really enjoy playing in over the years
- what situations disappointed you?

9. I am sure that you have played against some real competitors in the past, whom did you you really fear?

10. You are known for your strats, can you think of examples in past play where your strats led directly to deciding the game. Can you describe those situations?

11. CoD never ever really took off competitively.

a) Why not?

b) Were there any turning points in the franchise where things could have changed things around for the better in competition play?

c) If you could simply dictate the "perfect" tournament play style, what would that be, describe it:

- game
- gametype
- ruleset
...etc.

12. The economic climate lately has simply been crushing. Gaming is taking off but competitive gaming hasn't...why not?

13. Do you think that your departure signals the death of CoD gaming - or just the changing of the guard?

14. MW2 is coming soon. MW has shown some legs and CEVO Season 4 has started signups. How do you see the future shaping up in a post-Pandemic world? Will your fellow gamers in CoD simply let MW go and head into MW2?

15 If you had to do this again, what in your career would you do different?

16. For the youngsters listening right now who are thinking of going into competitive FPS, where would you suggest they go, what would you suggest they do?

17. Where are you going to do in RL?

18. What are crzg, keith and justin going to do now?
