I thought I would share this with you. BASHandSlash.com reader Raithat, emailed me with the following experience he had with the BFBC2 Beta:
"FALL BACK!"
You could hear the panic in the words that screamed out over the comms as we lost M-COMM Bravo at the
second line of defense.
I turned and hauled ass, high-tailing it back to the last defensive line at the shipyard.
It was there that I climbed onto
the roof of a building. I stood up on that roof and looked out at the drama and shear chaos unfolding beneath me.
I could hear the air snapping around
me.
THWAP, THWAP, THWAP.
I turned to look. An Apache was spooling up to go into battle. Looking like a giant pre-historic bird, she lifted off the ground. I could see the pilot and his gunner through the swirling dust cloud, both eager to do what had to be done.
The nose dipped and she picked up
speed, hurtling into the madness that was taking place at the choke point between Bravo and Charlie.
A chaotic orgasm of missiles and armor penetrating rounds, the Apache let loose its lethal arsenal.
Secondary
explosions lit up the surrounding hills.
The low reverberations were defeaning. My headset roared with the sound waves from the blasts. The echoes pounded against the mountainside.
"OH F***! MEDIUM ARMOR!" came the screach on the radio as a squad member identified the AA Mobile BMD3 rolling out of the
base. The sniper in my squad took aim...and fired. He put a tracer dart on
the front of the BMD3, while the Engineer next to him took aim with his RPG.
"WHooooMFF".
The rocket's backwash staggered us as were blinded for a second. Regaining our sight we saw the contrail arc toward the enemy.
"POP...BOOOM!", yet another explosion rocked my headset...finally, the noise fading back into the chatter of gunfire.
The enemy regained their wits after being counterpunched by the RPG team. A hail of mortar rounds came crashing down on my
squad mates from a sniper far behind the armored vehicles and troops.
The gunfire stopped for a split second and I took a deep breath. It
was then that it hit me...I was on a living breathing Battlefield. I
was at War.
The scale and scope of this game for only being 32 players is
absolutely shocking. There is constant fighting, pushing and defending
form both sides no matter where you are. For a BETA with bugs, this is
the most fun I have had FPSing in well over a year or two.
