BFBC2: Killer UAVs in Port Valdez
Written by jockyitch

One of the first interesting tactical ideas to come my way regarding BFBC2 is from -BW- Croze who has been studing the Port Valdez map and started thinking about how he could quickly destroy the first two M-COM objectives.

I've reprinted and illustrated his thoughts below (Croze's words are in italics):

Been listening to your casts about BF BC2 and how you just started playing. Me and my friends actually found a good strategy for the map, it might be a little cheap but I would suggest you try it. It's actually really fun.

If you are on assault you can destroy the first two objectives in a few minutes, leaving everyone on defense wondering what the hell just happened.
First let's get some perspective. Here's a snapshot looking down the valley from the attacker spawn at the beginning of the game.

Now we'll look from the defensive perspective, up towards the enemy spawn. Note the A and B M-Coms on the left and right, respectively.

First you need a teammate with C4. A Recon class (sniper) will have this type of equipment...so, they'll do nicely.

You'll need to get into the game as an Assaulter as you'll need the ammo crates.

bf2.jpgImmediately drop your sniper buddy one of these crates and then go control the UAV - but dont fly it away just yet.

While the helo-UAV is sitting there, get your teammate with the C4 to stick it directly to the UAV.

Have him replenish the C4 using your crate and add that onto the helo as well, placing 6 C4 sticks on the UAV.

After the C4 is planted on the UAV all you have to do is fly over to the objectives.

The tricky part is to get the C4 into the M-Com at A (the one at B is wide open).

You can do this by blowing out the A-house wall facing the coast using the UAV itself. Laser target the wall and wait for the missile you have just called in to strike the A house and take out that pesky wall!.

To prevent yourself getting shot at while you do this, duck under the cliffs to avoid fire.

Here's a pic showing exactly what Croze means. The view is from the cam mounted on the UAV, which is why the scene is black and white. Note the laser pipper (orange overlay) is right on the house. I took the screenie just as the missile struck. What was the coast-wall is now rubble.

Then, just fly into either objective and tell your buddy to blow the C4 then boom the objective is gone and you can move right along.

bf3.jpg The C4 doesn't blow up the UAV so as long as they don't shoot you down, you can fly back and rinse and repeat.

Keep in mind if you have an engineer friend he can repair the heli if it took some fire.

This also works with the ATV's. We noticed people doing the ATV thing to us so we wanted to see if we could use the UAV and it works really well as long as the other team isn't paying much attention.

It is kind of cheap not having to plant the charge so they could defuse but if your team is having trouble pushing the objectives this strategy only takes a few people to get your team moving and does help a lot.

I did find it frustrating sometimes teammates not moving and this was an easy way to get people going.

Good luck with the rest of your BC2 play hope to see you around in game maybe.

Really unique ideas there Croze, keep up the good work.
