It’s been a long time since we talked about competitive CoD4, but
here we are, just a few weeks away from one of the biggest community
competitive events in years. I’m talking of course about NERV 3, which
will be taking place on the 19th of February.
On to talk about NERV 3 and a few other LANs that have raised the interest level substantially for the CoD4 community are:
We’re lucky to have Andy on at all because
he’s not only preparing for NERV 3, but his team is also getting set
for the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7 LAN which will be taking place in
Holland in March.
John’s eFragTV will be providing the
shoutcast stream out of NERV 3 and he’s also going to the Intel LAN
Fest from Atlanta this weekend.
When’s the last time you heard of so many
LANs, eh? What should have been a dead and buried game is making a very
robust comeback.
We had the CEVO NZXT Tournament this Christmas. Then the Intel LAN Fest in Atlanta this weekend. NERV 3 is going on next week and we have CIC 7 in Europe in March. Wow.
Perhaps all this LAN interest this is not so much a reflection of the
longevity of the game, more than likely this phenomenon speaks more to the lack
of competitive shooters coming out lately.
CoD:WW did not work out its foibles to the liking of the competitive community. MW2 is plain and simple a bust for the pros on PC. BFBC2 while a solid game is not out yet and may not be too competitive-friendly. And I wouldn't bet on the comp guys liking CoD7, or MoH.
Other than CoD4, the only competitive games worth playing lately is L4D2, CS 1.6 and possibly the new CS Promod.
Either way, keep your Deagle
skills sharp, you might be using them at a LAN near you, very soon.
